Definition and Usage

The spellcheck attribute is a global attribute. This attribute is new in HTML5. Means, this attribute does not work in the previous versions of HTML.
It specifies that, whether the element’s content may be checked for spelling and grammar errors or not.

Values :

Two values can be set for the spellcheck attribute.

  1. true : tru value specifies that the element’s content should be checked for spelling and grammar errors.
  2. false : false value specifies that the element’s content should not be checked for spelling and grammar errors.

Example :

<p contenteditable spellcheck="true"> This is an editable paragraph, you can try to edit it, but it's content will be checked for spelling and grammar errors. </p>
 
<p contenteditable spellcheck="false"> This is an editable paragraph, you can try to edit it, but it's content will not be checked for spelling and grammar errors. </p>
